The erection of a chapel in front of Saint Vincent Church was ordered in 1622 by The White Penitents Brotherhood. In the early 20th century, the only intact remnant was the façade. After the last restoration work was carried out in 1974, Raymond Thuilier, then Lord Mayor of the Baux de Provence, advised by his friend Maurice Druon, asked Yves Brayer to embellish the inside walls.
On all six panels, he created a sort of continuous scenery, with a centred triumphant Christ. Enfolded in their unique colours and freshness, the frescos contribute to the place's calm and poetic atmosphere.
